
Plastics Project
Pollution from single-use plastics harms our planet, our wildlife, and our own health. Much of this pollution comes from plastic items we don't need in our lives at all - from plastic grocery bags to polystyrene (aka Styrofoam) takeout food containers. The plastics project aims to push forward both local and statewide legislation to ban single-use plastic bags. Currently, we are focused on forming key partnerships with other organizations, such as ANJEC and the Plastic Pollution Coalition, & taking action for a state plastics bill to pass through the state Assembly.

Multimedia Team

Overview: The Multimedia team works to use various forms of media including podcasts, social media, art, music, ect to support NJSSC and its various missions. We collaborate with various teams and initiatives within NJSSC and work as a flexible team to help with a little bit of everything. Currently we are working with Outreach in recruitment initiatives and the Research Team to publish research articles as well as keeping the NJSSC website updated, creating a podcast called Into the Woods, creating an environmental children's book contest and running the NJSSC blog.
Meet Our Team Leaders!

Naomi Carroll (She/Her)
Princeton High School Class of 2026
Naomi is a passionate advocate for the environment and has been vegetarian since age 7. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Ivy Art and Literature Magazine, founder of the Seter Jewish Club, a vocalist and flute player for PHS Jazz Ensemble and a member of PHS Choir. In her non-existent free time she draws, paints, writes, and learns languages. She aims to use her talents, passions, and efforts to help create a better future.

Samhita Bairy (She/Her)
John P Steven's High School Class of 2028
In addition to co-leading the multimedia team of NJSSC, Samhita is an active member of her school's Greenhouse and Model UN club. Outside of school, she is working on writing a book about environmental sustainability and awareness. She also has been learning Indian classical dance (Kuchipudi) for 10 years. Samhita is deeply passionate about sustainability and preserving the environment for future generations and is excited to collaborate with everyone to create a positive impact on society.

Katherine Harris (She/Her)
Montgomery High School Class of 2027
Katherine is a member of her school's environmental club and dance team. She also leads a youth neuroscience organization and is a caretaker for senior citizens. She is very passionate about the climate, leading community cleanup groups and advocating for change.
