About NJSSC

MISSION STATEMENT

The NJ Student Sustainability Coalition (NJSSC) is a youth-run network of college and high school students across the state of New Jersey. This collaborative network shares experience, resources, and expertise to build student power across the state and push forward sustainability initiatives that benefit us all.

WHAT WE DO

We realize our mission through three primary strategies

Programming - organizing collaborative events, from trainings to conferences, to help our coalition members network and learn how to carry out their work more effectively

Resource Building - connecting schools and environmental groups engaged in similar issues to share best practices, and developing centralized lists of opportunities and tools

Political Action - establishing policy positions and initiating joint projects to elevate youth voices in environmental decision-making

[Currently, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, NJSSC is functioning almost completely virtually]

WHERE WE ARE

Our coalition members are spread all across the northern, central, and southern parts of the state of New Jersey. This interactive map shows the institutions where our members attend school. The map is color-coded to distinguish colleges and elementary, middle, and high schools.

NJSSC IN ACTION!

While much of our coalition's coordination and activity currently happens remotely, we have often created opportunities to get together. Whether it's supporting each other at big events that our member groups are running, meeting up at regional conferences, or hosting our own coalition-specific convenings, NJSSC members come together and make real change for our state.
