
Plastics Project
Pollution from single-use plastics harms our planet, our wildlife, and our own health. Much of this pollution comes from plastic items we don't need in our lives at all - from plastic grocery bags to polystyrene (aka Styrofoam) takeout food containers. The plastics project aims to push forward both local and statewide legislation to ban single-use plastic bags. Currently, we are focused on forming key partnerships with other organizations, such as ANJEC and the Plastic Pollution Coalition, & taking action for a state plastics bill to pass through the state Assembly.

Olivia Gray (she/her)
High School Representative
Passaic County Technical Institute - Class of 2023

Olivia Gray is a high school junior attending the Passaic County Technical Institute. She is the high school representative for NJSSC, as well as one of the marketing and public relations directors of her high school’s environmental club. She has presented at the Rutgers Climate Summit, sharing the important issues of flooding in northern New Jersey. Within her high school, she is also the Vice President of her history club, Secretary for SkillsUSA, and a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Society in Paterson, NJ. She also serves as a participant in the following in-school and outside organizations: ASL, Student Council, Leaders Emerging Among Peers (LEAP), Future Education Association (FEA), Twenty20, and Book Club. She is one of eight student ambassadors for the Center of Future Educators (CFE) for the 2020-2021 school year. She developed her own non-profit organization, Big Look (site link embedded), helping students develop a greater cognizance of their scholar achievements through scholarships, active avocation, and peer mentorship. In her spare time, she loves to read, write poetry, paint, and create chalk art.
