
Plastics Project
Pollution from single-use plastics harms our planet, our wildlife, and our own health. Much of this pollution comes from plastic items we don't need in our lives at all - from plastic grocery bags to polystyrene (aka Styrofoam) takeout food containers. The plastics project aims to push forward both local and statewide legislation to ban single-use plastic bags. Currently, we are focused on forming key partnerships with other organizations, such as ANJEC and the Plastic Pollution Coalition, & taking action for a state plastics bill to pass through the state Assembly.

Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator
Johns P. Stevens Highschool - Class of 2023

Lawrence Wang is a senior attending John P. Stevens High School in Edison, New Jersey. Understanding the importance of diversity in an advocacy setting, he serves as the Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for NJSSC. Currently, Lawrence is an environmental researcher at Cornell University, where he specializes in eddy covariance analysis to discover applications in both agricultural and atmospheric settings. Lawrence is also dedicated to leading his nonprofit where he combats anti-refugee rhetoric through writing articles and hosting a podcast, all the while providing direct assistance to local refugees. Lawrence hopes that his efforts will alleviate environmental and social injustices within his community and beyond.
