
Plastics Project
Pollution from single-use plastics harms our planet, our wildlife, and our own health. Much of this pollution comes from plastic items we don't need in our lives at all - from plastic grocery bags to polystyrene (aka Styrofoam) takeout food containers. The plastics project aims to push forward both local and statewide legislation to ban single-use plastic bags. Currently, we are focused on forming key partnerships with other organizations, such as ANJEC and the Plastic Pollution Coalition, & taking action for a state plastics bill to pass through the state Assembly.

Carly Gavant is from Hoboken, NJ and is a Senior at Packer Collegiate Institute. She is the Main Steam Media Co-Coordinator for the Green Amendment Campaign team and a Student Rep for the New Jersey Student Sustainability Coalition. Through these roles, she hopes to continue to spread awareness about the Green Amendment to promote the environmental rights for every resident across the state of New Jersey. She is also the leader of environmental and green initiatives for the town of Hoboken’s Youth Advisory Commission. She enjoys gardening, farming, biking, and generally spending time in the outdoors. She is passionate about creating sustainable solutions to impending climate challenges and plans to pursue her education in this area of study.
